Housing Choice Voucher Waitlist

For the month of April, Alaska Housing Finance Corporation has opened a 30-day window to apply to be on the Housing Choice Voucher waitlist for the Municipality of Anchorage, Girdwood, Eagle River, Eklutna and communities in between. 

Applications for the Housing Choice Voucher waitlist are being accepted now until Sunday, April 30, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. Alaska Time.

Sleep Out Kincaid Park
One Night, One Purpose

An increasing number of young people are facing homelessness. You can help by giving up your bed for a night to sleep out at Kincaid Park to raise funds to ensure that youth experiencing homelessness can sleep safely at Covenant House Alaska.

This family-friendly Sleep Out fundraiser begins on Friday at 6 PM and will end on Saturday at 8 AM. If you opt not to stay the night, you can still join for an evening programming of music and activities.

Paving the way for a tipping point

How we’re working to make homelessness rare and brief

Systems are designed by people — and they can be redesigned. Through Built for Zero, we support communities in shifting their mindsets and systems from managing the homelessness crisis to eliminating it.

As we help these communities demonstrate that it is possible to make homelessness rare and brief, we are also priming broader conditions so any community will be able to do the same.

Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grants
Creating a Vision for Neighborhood Revitalization

HUD is currently accepting applications for Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grants. HUD anticipates awarding up to $10 million for Planning Grants due to increased appropriations for FY22. For more information and to view the funding announcement, visit www.hud.gov/cn.

BLUEPRINT FOR CHANGE
HUD’s Choice Neighborhoods program offers up to $500,000 for each Planning Grant to create a community-driven “Transformation Plan.” A two-year planning process allows grantees to build the support necessary to implement a comprehensive plan for neighborhood revitalization with a primary focus on the redevelopment of a HUD-assisted housing project or projects.

National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH)

Helping Communities Design and Implement More Equitable Systems

The Framework for an Equitable Homelessness Response partnership is launching a new phase of work to help communities design and implement a more equitable homelessness response system.
In the next two years, the Framework project will focus on five action areas driven by shared values and the goal of helping communities advance equity, reduce homelessness, and build on lessons learned during the pandemic response.

Reimagining Interim Housing:
Transforming our Approaches to Sheltering People

April 20, at 3:00 P.M. ET

The Framework for an Equitable Homelessness Response team is offering a second webinar on the Reimagining Interim Housing project.

Project consultants will explore proposed stages and action areas to transform approaches to sheltering people. Speakers will also present guidance for partnering with people experiencing homelessness and for leading with racial justice and equity within those efforts.
