My First 100 Days in Office Dear Friends, Earlier this week, I completed my first 100 days in office as Tarrant County Judge. It is an honor to serve you, and I’m grateful for your support and prayers. After taking the Oath of Office on January 1st, I stepped into the County Administration Building and hit the ground running. I’ve met with hundreds of constituents, businesses, non-profits, elected officials, and Tarrant County employees, and will continue to do so. My door is always open to you. Here are a few highlights from my first 100 days in office: Rescinded the COVID-19 Disaster Declaration Eliminated divisive, mandatory unconscious bias training Supported creation of an Election Integrity Task Force Initiated the process to implement a Homestead Exemption for property taxes Working to uphold law and order by supporting our law enforcement professionals Fighting for taxpayers and stopping hundreds of thousands in wasteful spending Read on for more details on these actions, and more! Covid-19 Disaster Declaration Rescinded One of my first acts as County Judge was to rescind the COVID-19 Disaster Declaration that had been in effect since 2020. Throughout my campaign in 2022, many Tarrant County residents, business owners, and church leaders that I met with told me stories of how local COVID-19 policies negatively impacted their lives and organizations. It is time to move forward, and we have. Eliminated Mandatory Unconscious Bias Training The Tarrant County Commissioners Court recently voted to roll back a mandated series of human resource trainings instituted by the County in December 2021. These trainings included unconscious bias training. At a time when our nation is deeply divided, further instilling the notion that we have unknown prejudices based on gender, race, religion, age, weight, height or any other biological, social, or cultural differences only serves to bring disunity. Election Integrity Working with Sheriff Bill Waybourn and Criminal District Attorney Phil Sorrells, we announced the formation of Tarrant County’s Election Integrity Task Force, a newly established effort to eliminate unlawful activity in elections where anyone, including election volunteers, alert citizens, or government employees can report suspicious election activity. Free and fair elections are the bedrock of our nation, and there is no place for election fraud, illegal ballot harvesting, poll worker intimidation or any other violations of the Election Code here in Tarrant County. Supporting Law Enforcement I’ve prioritized making Tarrant County the safest large county in America. We are the 3rd largest county in Texas and the 15th largest in the United States. Maintaining law and order can be challenging, but failing to do so is not an option. Protecting our God-given rights and keeping people safe are the two most important roles of government. I have worked and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our Tarrant County law enforcement professionals have every tool necessary to protect our residents and their properties. I recently supported a feasibility study for the construction of a new Law Enforcement Training Center. Tarrant County needs to retain and attract the best and brightest in law enforcement, which requires first-class training. The Commissioners Court also approved the purchase of a tactical armored vehicle for the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office for the first time in the department’s history. I am committed to ensuring our deputies and detention officers have the equipment and training needed to carry out their mission of public safety. Fighting for Tax Payers As County Judge, I will always work to make sure your tax dollars are spent wisely, without waste. I critically review every expenditure the Commissioners Court is over. It is never acceptable to spend your money based on “that is what we’ve always done.” We can and we will find ways to reduce spending and lower property taxes. I initiated the process to consider the adoption of a Homestead Exemption for County Property, a property tax relief measure that has never been implemented in Tarrant County. Tarrant County is in the midst of filling a vacancy on the Tarrant Appraisal District Board. I’m committed to appointing a strong advocate for taxpayers. Just Getting Started! There is still much to be done. I remain committed to defending faith, family, and freedom in everything I do. I thank you for your trust and support, and I look forward to continuing to serve you in the months and years to come. I work under the constant awareness that I am in this position due to the thousands of volunteer hours and donations to my campaign. I will always uphold your values and do the right thing. Any donations will be put to the best use and not a penny will be wasted in our fight to reclaim and grow conservative values in Tarrant County! If I can be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me. Again, it is an honor to serve as your County Judge in what I believe to be the best county, in the best state, in the best country in the world.
