Dear John ,

Yesterday nearly 300 conservation voters came to Madison and joined 60 conservation organizations to deliver a clear message to their legislators: clean water is our priority and we want action now.

It was a standing room only crowd almost as soon as the day began. Yet, somehow, it felt like one of our most intimate lobby days yet. I had many incredible conversations with people who not only took action yesterday, but who serve as the backbone of conservation in Wisconsin each and every day.

When we host lobby days it always energizes us, but this day was particularly inspiring. People like you brought their personal experiences, their passion and compassion, and their energy to fight for safe drinking water for everyone.

The high attendance, the well-informed conservation voters, and the camaraderie and fellowship was inspiring. And, an additional shout out to the more than 160 folks who emailed their legislators yesterday, too!

All of your work, your sacrifices, and your seemingly limitless love for Wisconsin has very real and very important outcomes. Look at how far we’ve come in just a year.

It was just a little over a year ago when we were living under an era of climate change denial, environmental rollbacks, polluter giveaways, and disregard for the state’s natural resources from the very top of state government.

Now, we have several pieces of water legislation, many of which are bipartisan, advancing through the capitol. We have a Climate Change Task Force, and we have executive orders to address drinking water problems and clean energy in the state.

Clean Water Lobby Day was a blast, but it is also proof positive that we as a group, as a movement, hold a burgeoning momentum in the palms of our hands. We have the opportunity now to encourage and build on that momentum until it becomes an unstoppable force for good – for Wisconsin and for the world.

Thank you so much to our citizen lobbyists, our incredible conservation community, our volunteers, our staff, our board members, and most especially to you.

Thank you for being a conservation voter,
Kerry Schumann
