Last week, I was invited to speak at Oregon State University with science and policy students on my climate change advocacy efforts. The students left me feeling optimistic for the future of our country and our planet. They asked me tough questions – what can scientists do to make their voices heard, how to keep bills alive – even after they're voted down – and what day-to-day activism looks like. They showed a deep determination to get involved and make our world a better place for all people.
You can read the full article here on my time in the classroom.
I'll tell you what I told those students. Don't despair. Get involved. Register to vote. And just push. Because when we come together, when we are vocal about issues that matter to us, we can create a better, more just world.
Oregonians like these students inspire me every day to go out there and fight the fight for our planet's future; I'm honored to stand at their side.
