Hi John,

Our co-chair MÉLANIE VOGEL recently attended attended the launching event
for the national elections of Spain’s new political progressive force,
Sumar. Sumar unites progressive parties in Spain to run in the general
elections at the end of this year.

At the event, Sumar’s leading figure and Spain’s Vice President,
Yolanda Díaz, has announced her candidacy for the elections.

Yolanda Díaz and Mélanie Vogel at Sumar's election launching event in
Spain.

As Minister of Labour and Social Economy, she has been pushing many
important reforms, including an important raise in minimum wage for all
Spanish workers.

Díaz's vision for Spain is ambitious and future focused. She envisions a
country and a European Union with greater equality, leading in the just
green transition and pushing for a feminist society with more rights and
freedoms for all.

“We are ready to support Sumar, a political project that works to improve
people's life and drives a Green just transition under the leadership of
Yolanda Díaz Pérez, a powerful and inspiring woman!" – Mélanie Vogel,
co-chair of the European Greens

We live in critical times, where it’s more important than ever for
progressive forces to come together to fight for a better future for all!

Her candidacy represents hope for a fairer and more just society, and we
believe that she is the leader Spain needs at this critical moment.

Bulgaria

GREENS SECURE 3 SEATS

*
Our member party the Bulgarian Greens (Zelenite), has maintained its three
seats in the country's fifth election within the last two years.

*
However, we are concerned about the rise of the nationalist Revival party
(Vazrazhdane), which gained several points compared to the last election in
October.

*
We will continue to work with the Bulgarian Greens to promote our
progressive values and stand up against the dangerous rhetoric of
nationalist parties.

*
We hope that Bulgaria will be able to overcome its years long political
crises soon and have a progressive, European oriented government.

TILT! PETITION

DO YOU HAVE ONE MINUTE TO SUPPORT OUR CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE CRUEL OCTOPUS
FARM?

[11]

Nueva Pescanova, a Spanish company that is behind the murderous project of
the first octopus farm in the world, wants to kill about a million
octopuses per year for food.

While octopuses normally live in the dark, they will be kept under constant
light which causes great distress. To kill them, they will be put in
containers and frozen to death – a slow and extremely painful process.

The government of the Canary Islands refuses to comment.

THAT'S WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP. SEND A LETTER TO THE AUTHORITIES OF THE
CANARY ISLANDS AND ASK THEM TO TAKE A STRONG STANCE TO STOP THE PROCESS!
