Dear John
At least 100 people, including many children, have been killed in an airstrike by the Burmese military.
The attack took place in Sagaing region in the north of Burma. Local people have been resisting military rule since the attempted coup began two years ago, and the military has lost control of large parts of the region.
They were holding an event to celebrate setting up a local government administration to provide basic services to people in the area, free from control of the Burmese military.
The Burmese military attacked them with Russian made helicopters and Chinese made jets. The bombs used were so powerful local people can’t count the dead. Many people were blown into small pieces and body parts are spread over a wide area. Pictures received by Burma Campaign UK just after the attack show twisted burned bodies lying everywhere, including children.
Will this horrific attack be enough to persuade the British government to finally sanction supplying aviation fuel to Burma?
If the jets can’t fly, they can’t bomb.
British companies have provided insurance to the ships delivering aviation fuel to Burma. American and European companies are also involved in supplying aviation fuel to Burma.
If they work together and sanction aviation fuel, they can make it harder for the military to carry out attacks like this.
If you haven’t already emailed the British government to sanction aviation fuel, you can do so here. ([link removed])
If you have already taken this action, please ask your friends to join you.

Russian helicopters were used in the airstrikes. You can email President Putin here demanding Russia stop arming the Burmese military. ([link removed])
We will be in touch again next week with more things you can do to help stop airstrikes like this.
The people of Burma are doing everything they can to resist military rule. We have to do everything we can do make sure the British government does everything it can to support them.
Thank you for your support.
