UPDATE: GREAT NEWS! Local elected officials in Nashville and Memphis have
voted to reappoint the two Black Tennessee Dems that Republicans expelled
from the state legislature last week. They're back in!
To stay in, both Justin Jones in Nashville and Justin Pearson in Memphis
will now have to campaign for and win special elections that will be
scheduled in the coming months.

Last night, Maxwell Frost spoke with MSNBC's Lawrence O’Donnell about the
two Black Democratic lawmakers Tennessee Republicans expelled from the
state House.
He told O’Donnell, "For people in this country that think racism doesn’t
exist, look at what happened to these young Black men who stood up and
said, ‘We don’t want kids being shot in this country.'"
Like the sit-in John Lewis led on the floor of the U.S. House in 2016 to
protest inaction on gun control after a mass shooting in an Orlando
nightclub, these Tennessee lawmakers joined protests after kids were shot
and lawmakers refused to take action -- or to even listen.
