Friend, when you think of the climate crisis, you likely think of a struggle that our children and grandchildren will be burdened with. But the reality is, the climate crisis is happening right now – and it’s hitting women and girls the hardest.
That’s why, in advance of Earth Day this month, we're supporting women and girls to be resilient in the face of climate crises and empowering them with the resources to help their communities – and we’re relying on supporters like you to stand with us. We need to collect 1,000 responses before midnight tonight, so please let us know if you’re committed to this fight with us:
Do you think addressing the climate crisis is an important part of standing with women and girls worldwide?
The damage that climate change is causing for women and girls right now cannot be understated. In the Horn of Africa, droughts are contributing to a breakdown of health care systems – causing girls, women, and soon-to-be moms to go without lifesaving sexual and reproductive health services.
In Bangladesh – where strong, disastrous floods destroy crops and claim the lives of hundreds every year – too frequently, families make the decision to stop their daughter’s education and instead marry their daughter off to ease the financial burdens that follow a violent flood.
And in areas like South Sudan, where millions have been displaced by floods and moved into refugee centers, women and girls are victims of violence at staggering rates.
Friend, today, there are more than 20 million climate refugees in the world – and that number is only expected to increase as these crises worsen. That’s why we MUST take action now to support women and girls facing climate disasters, and we’re counting on you to join us.
We have to hear from another 304 people to hit our goal, so please respond ASAP.
