Dear friends,
Thanks to you, ASAN is starting the year off strong! Our 2019 end-of-year fundraising was more successful than ever before, and we can’t thank you enough for everything you do to keep ASAN going.
We’re already hard at work gearing up for our 2020 programs, and there are so many ways you can get involved! If you’re an autistic college student with at least one year of school left, you should consider applying for our Autism Campus Inclusion (ACI) Leadership Academy! ACI helps autistic students learn to make their college campuses better for people with disabilities. We’ve also opened up our sign-up form for Day of Mourning Vigil Site Coordinators. Click through to learn more about our Disability Day of Mourning and how you can host a vigil in your own community.
Unfortunately, in 2020 our community is already facing new threats, including a dangerous — and likely illegal — Trump Administration proposal to block grant Medicaid. ASAN will continue to fight to protect our community’s rights and the services that we depend on. And we’re not fighting alone — the disability community is more engaged than ever in our democracy, and this year, we have plenty of opportunities to stand up and be counted. Learn about why the census matters to people with disabilities with these new resources from the Arc, and check out ASAN’s Easy Read toolkit on voting.
Want to join our fight for disability rights? ASAN is now hiring for a Programs & Publications Assistant! If you have a graphic design background, a knack for logistics, and are local to DC (or able to relocate), we would love to work with you. Learn more here!
Wishing you all the best for the new year,
