Dear John,
We recently released a study which finds that half of young Canadians prefer socialism to capitalism.
The vast majority of respondents also couldn’t define socialism properly.
Instead, most defined it as simply more government programs and / or a guaranteed income.
The poll went on to find that despite a high degree of support for “socialism”, the vast majority of respondents do not want to pay the higher taxes that would be necessary to pay for it.
John, I’m happy to announce that this year, the Fraser Institute will be rolling out the Realities of Socialism project.
The Realities of Socialism, launching in the coming months, will be a multimedia project embarked upon in conjunction with our international partners in the USA, UK, and Australia.
It will explore several countries and their historical experiences with socialism – both properly defined, and otherwise.
It will attempt to remedy – to whatever degree possible – the above poll findings. It will educate people on the real history of socialism, and aim to clear up misconceptions that have clearly become popularized in recent years.
John, we want this project to be as impactful and possible.
Can you help us?
If you’re able to, please make a donation today [[link removed][campaignid]] so that we can bring this important research to as many people as possible.
Thank you so much for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Niels Veldhuis
