Congressman Crenshaw here.

This week, the House voted on bipartisan legislation that improves education of America's youth on the atrocities of the Holocaust. I also spoke about the Democrat drug pricing bill, HR 3, at a Budget Committee hearing and explained why the plan would result in fewer cures for people in Texas and across the country.

As a reminder to Texans in the Second District, please reach out to my offices if you have a concern, want to hear what we’re working on in Congress, or are having trouble with a federal agency. Now, let's catch up.

NEVER FORGET EDUCATION ACT

This Monday was International Holocaust Remembrance Day, and the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz. That very same day, I voted to pass the bipartisan Never Forget Education Act in the House, which promotes education of America's youth on the atrocities of the Holocaust.

Here are three reasons why I voted to pass this bill:

  • 2/3 of millennials and 41% of respondents to a 2018 survey couldn’t identify what Auschwitz was;
  • 22% of millennials said they hadn’t heard of the Holocaust or were unsure whether they’d heard of it.
  • According to a Pew survey, fewer than half of the respondents could correctly answer questions about the Holocaust. However, 93% of respondents to the 2018 survey said all students should learn about the Holocaust.

cbo director: democrat drug pricing bill will lead to fewer cures

This Wednesday, I also spoke at a Budget Committee hearing with the director of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). What the CBO director said should concern all Texans.

According to the CBO director, up to 30 new cures would be lost because of a drug pricing bill being pushed by House Democrats.

Price controls destroy innovation. Reducing prices doesn’t matter if the drug you need doesn’t exist to begin with.

That's why I voted for legislation that will reduce your drug costs WITHOUT destroying innovation. I want to save you money at the pharmacy counter and make sure you still have access to the drugs you need.
