First, I want to thank you for your incredible support during our end-of-quarter fundraising push. Thanks to you, we surpassed our goal and started the new quarter on a strong note! You continue to be an essential part of this team.

Next, I’d like to update you on how I’m working to deliver on the historic “Invest in America” package of bills we passed in the last Congress and what it means for our communities. From the American Rescue Plan, to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Chips and Science Act, Safer Communities Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act, these new laws are enabling transformative investments in everything from clean water infrastructure, to natural disaster readiness and resilience, to more affordable health care, mental health services, improved public safety, and more. I’m excited that we’re finally seeing funding from these bills making its way into our district!

In my role on the House Regional Leadership Council (RLC), I recently met with White House officials about the importance of implementing these historic investments expeditiously and equitably. Passing the bills that secured this funding was a remarkable achievement – now, our job as elected leaders is to ensure that all constituents are informed, and that they get their fair share of these investments. The RLC will continue to work in partnership with the Biden-Harris administration to get this right, and I’ll do everything I can to make sure the 2nd District gets its share of access to these benefits, including well-paying jobs, lower energy and internet costs, expanded benefits for veterans and much more.

I’m proud to share that CA-02 will receive over $8.6 million to fund critical wildfire defense and resilience. We’ve experienced increasingly destructive wildfire seasons year after year due to the ongoing climate crisis, so this funding is a huge relief for our region.

Additionally, John, $54 million in funding for much-needed water infrastructure upgrades is heading to our region. This will help ensure that our communities have access to clean water and it will bolster economic development.

You’ll hear much more about what the federal government is doing for communities up and down the North Coast in the months ahead.
