John, our kids are dying and it has to end.
Last week, we mourned Nashville, this week we're morning Louisville. Countless other cities in America have been violently subjected to the aftermath of the gun violence epidemic running rampant in our country.
Yet legislators like Mitch McConnell and so many others have been silent. They instead choose to side with gun manufacturers and gun lobbyists instead of making sure their constituents are safe and secure.
Thoughts and prayers have never been enough.
We need to call Congress. Call our US Senators. Call our state reps and local reps. We need to organize our neighborhoods, our counties, and our states, and vote out every person who let our kids die. We need to apply pressure every day, multiple times a day until they do something to rectify this crisis.
John, our movement is doing the work to hold complacent representatives accountable for their actions and inactions. But this work can't be done alone. We need as many people in this fight as possible to make the impact we not only deserve, but need. Can I count on you to help power this collective work by making a contribution of $3 or anything you're able to today?
There are big money actors in politics that influence legislation way too much and fund our elected officials — Democrats and Republicans. People refer to me as a "progressive" leader but I'm just a regular person trying to fight for the rights of the people in my district.
As an educator, it breaks my heart to know that the safest places for our children are no longer safe. I joined this movement because I saw clear as day the many injustices and roadblocks that have plagued our communities for too long. Innocent lives in my district have been ended by gun violence and many other rampant issues in our communities.
I will not rest until we see an end to gun violence and the predatory profiteering in our democracy. Chip in today to help us build our collective power to end gun violence and pass real gun control laws once and for all.
Peace and love,
Jamaal Bowman
