John,
I wanted to make sure you saw Sen. Murphy’s email from yesterday.
Will you make a contribution today to help us take on the gun lobby and protect our communities from gun violence? [[link removed]]
DONATE [[link removed]]
Congressional Republicans remain more beholden to the gun lobby than to their constituents who demand action. Fortunately, it’s different here in Connecticut.
We’ve banned assault weapons and high capacity magazines. We’ve implemented universal background checks . And this year, Gov. Lamont proposed legislation that bans open carry, the bulk purchase of handguns, and raises the minimum age for purchasing long guns to 21.
The approval of this legislation out of committee broke down almost entirely along party lines. CT Democrats are saying enough is enough. We’re taking action at home because Republicans and Congress refuse to do so.
Your contribution today helps Democrats continue to strengthen gun regulations and save lives. [[link removed]]
Thank you,
Sarah Locke

Preview: This is a uniquely American problem when it comes to guns
Sarah,
So far this year, we’ve seen at least 18 school shootings and at least 147 mass shootings. Firearms are the leading cause of death for U.S. children and teens.
Last year’s bipartisan gun safety bill was a huge victory. We broke the logjam in Washington for the first time in three decades, but we know there is more that can be done.
For years, I’ve fought to pass universal background checks. Nearly half of the U.S. Senate has signed on to sponsor this bill, and more than 90% of Americans support universal background checks.
But too many Republicans in Congress still cower to the gun lobby. They care more about the profits of their gun lobby backers than they do about saving lives. The epidemic of gun violence is a uniquely American problem. Enough is enough.
I’m asking for your help. Will you chip in any amount to the Connecticut Democratic Party today to help us defeat Republicans who side with the gun lobby and elect Democrats who push for stronger gun safety legislation? [[link removed]]

We can enact laws that save lives. We proved that last year with my Bipartisan Safer Communities Act - the most significant gun legislation passed in 30 years.
But more can and must be done to protect our communities and save lives, and your contribution today will help [[link removed]] .
Every best wish,
Chris Murphy
