I’m thrilled to announce that my old boss U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich and I are teaming up to protect New Mexico’s environment and boost our outdoor economy.

We just introduced the M.H. Dutch Salmon Greater Gila Wild and Scenic River Act to designate portions of the Gila River, its watershed, and other rivers in the Gila National Forest as Wild and Scenic Rivers.

The Gila Watershed, home to the nation’s first designated Wilderness, is now the largest remaining network of naturally free-flowing river segments in the Southwest.
