Friends,
The Supreme Court’s radical decision last summer to overturn Roe v. Wade put women’s lives in danger.
Decades of legal precedent went out the window while the overwhelming support for safe and legal abortion was ignored. And with the recent news that a federal district court judge has suspended the FDA’s 2000 approval of mifepristone -- a widely-used, safe, and effective medication -- it’s clear women’s freedoms are under attack.
Let’s clear something up: The district court’s decision to overturn the FDA’s approval of mifepristone has no basis in law, poses serious health risks to pregnant patients, and threatens the FDA’s drug approval process.
Fighting to protect reproductive freedom is at the top of my priority list. I know it’s at the top of yours as well — an overwhelming 72% of you said in my recent survey that you’d like to see the Senate make progress on this issue this year.
In the last two months alone, I’ve been working with my colleagues to introduce much-needed legislation to protect women’s choices, including:
These three pieces of legislation are essential to protect women's freedom to make their own reproductive health care choices.
Put simply, these bills will save lives.

There’s a lot of work to do to ensure women across the country have freedom to make their own choices, and I’ll need you by my side until the end.
Thanks for your support,
Tim Kaine
