Friend,
Earlier today, the House Public Education Committee heard testimony from a "school choice" activist from Florida.
They claimed that critics in Florida had predicted the sky would fall because of school voucher scams, but that it hasn't happened. I couldn't stay silent, and I want you to witness my response:

friend , as a former public school teacher -- the sky IS falling for our public schools and teachers. Our schools are in the midst of a crisis created by Republican leadership. Sign our petition to show your support for Texas public schools! [[link removed]]
Our teachers are woefully underpaid. Many of them are forced to work second or third jobs just to make ends meet. Many of them pay for classroom supplies out of their own pockets. It's unconscionable. Last week, Republicans even voted down a $10,000 pay raise for Texas public school teachers.
Texas Republicans' school voucher scam is a thinly-veiled scheme to funnel public tax dollars to wealthy and unaccountable private schools. We must call it what it is: an attack on our public education system.
Join me in saying NO to private school voucher scams. Sign our petition to show your support for our public schools and teachers! [[link removed]]

In Texas, we go big or go home. Let’s go big for our teachers and our kids.
