Better Sharing in the Age of AI

🤖As the world watches the rapid evolution of generative artificial intelligence (AI), Creative Commons is closely following developments to understand the many complex issues that come with these innovative new tools.

🔍 Our primary focus is on the intersection of copyright law and generative AI, and we're committed to ensuring that our strategy for #BetterSharing supports the development of this technology, while respecting the work of human creators and contributing to a better internet for all.

📝 Through a series of blog posts by our team and guest contributors, we are exploring concerns related to AI inputs (training data) to the implications of AI outputs (works created by AI tools).

🆕 Our two most recent blog posts of the series tackle two crucial issues:
Part 1 - Whether copyright should protect artistic style, and
Part 2
- Whether generative AI (GAI) tools should be responsible if users create works that may infringe on works by other artists.

Eye Candy 🍭

Every month, we change our social media headers to a new CC-licensed image. This year, we are spotlighting a different CC-licensed illustration from our #BetterSharing collection on our social media headers and the CC blog. For March, we're excited to showcase “The More We Share, The More We Have (series 1/2)” by Pietro Soldi for Creative Commons & Fine Acts licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0, which was inspired by a quote from Cory Doctorow, Science Fiction Author, Journalist and Tech Activist.
