Yesterday, the cause of international peace won a major victory. The House of Representatives passed our bill to limit Trump’s ability to start an offensive war against Iran with bipartisan support.
For months, you and I have been fighting for this outcome. People across the country have stood up to say that we’re sick and tired of these endless wars and that we don’t want another one!
Your leaders listened. I listened. I never gave up the fight, even when the White House blocked our first amendment that would have achieved this outcome. Our resolve won the day.
Thanks to support from progressive allies like Rep. Barbara Lee, we’ve managed to build a bipartisan consensus around a progressive foreign policy — one that centers diplomacy and peace-making, not the military-industrial complex and war.
Be proud of what you’ve fought for. Be proud of what you’ve accomplished. Without the outcry of everyday people who are outraged by senseless bloodshed, we would have never gotten this far in the first place.
There’s still work to be done. But this is a reminder that if we refuse to give up, if we refuse to back down from our progressive ideals, and if we stand up for what’s right, we will win in the end.
Onward,
Ro Khanna
