Friend, by now you’ve likely heard that a Trump-appointed federal judge in Texas issued a ruling that undermines FDA approval of mifepristone, a safe, at-home abortion medication. This is a direct attack on reproductive health and autonomy, and we cannot let it go unchallenged.

Let me be clear: Abortion is safe, legal, and accessible in New York State. If you are in need of reproductive care, including an abortion, New York welcomes you with open arms. We will always be your safe harbor, and we will never back down in the fight to protect your reproductive rights.

But this ruling opens a dangerous door to politicizing medicine. We cannot let extremist forces dictate our healthcare decisions or dismantle the reproductive health care system. I know their attacks won’t stop there, so I am working on new legislation to require insurance companies to cover misoprostol, the secondary drug used in medication abortions.

Friend, I will always do everything in my power to protect your reproductive rights and ensure that everyone has the ability to make their own, personal health care decisions. That's why I'm asking if you'll sign my petition to support our work to protect reproductive rights in New York.
