I’m running for Congress in WA-06 because our representation has failed us.
Derek Kilmer is a corporate Democrat — the 9th most conservative Democrat in the House, according to GovTrack. He hypocritically calls himself a national leader on getting money out of politics but has taken $3 million from corporate PACs.
Unsurprisingly, he does not support Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, or national rent control. I do, and I’m the only candidate in the race who does not take corporate money.
Because of that, I need your help to win. Can you donate $27 before the month ends in 12 hours?
I’ve already raised more than all of Kilmer’s 2018 challengers combined, including the Republican.
It hasn’t been easy. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), which is the election arm of the House Democrats, has blacklisted people like me who are challenging incumbent Democrats. Political consultants and staffers are not allowed to work with me, or the DCCC will block them from working with any House Democrats.
I’ve spoken with people who directly told me: “I love your policies but I can’t work with you because of the DCCC blacklist.”
Meanwhile, the WA state party has blocked me from using their canvassing tools, even though I’m a Democrat.
What upsets me about all this is not the blacklisting — it’s that they won’t let me help you.
We can bail out Wall Street...we can invade other countries to enrich oil companies...but Grandma in Kitsap county can’t afford her meds?
We can give real estate developers tax breaks to build unaffordable housing...but we can’t house the people who die on the streets after developers evict them?
We can give giant corporations tax breaks so their CEOs can get richer and richer...but we can’t raise the wages of the poor and middle class?
This is wrong.
It’s time for a moral economy.
One where healthcare, housing, a clean environment, and education are guaranteed for all.
I will not let establishment blacklisting stop me. What this campaign — and the entire progressive movement — is fighting for is too important.
Can you chip in to help us buy more canvassing postcards and hire more regional organizers, so we can win this race?
