Trump’s Council on Environmental Quality just proposed rules to gut...
Food & Water Action

John,

He knows the headlines are dominated by impeachment and the 2020 election.

So while he thought no one was looking, Trump just gutted one of the most important tools we have to combat global warming.

Under this major new rollback, federal agencies can’t consider — in fact they are banned from even discussing — cumulative impacts of proposed projects on climate change when deciding whether to approve highways, oil pipelines and other major infrastructure projects.

It’s a “climate gag rule" drafted at the request of BP that will fast-track projects like the Keystone XL pipeline with literally no questions asked about how a project will affect global climate change. And it will exempt even more projects from even being reviewed for environmental impacts.

We’re sounding the alarm to stop this major new attack on our health and the stable climate we need to live. Please join us by making a donation to fight back.

While the nation’s attention is diverted, Trump and his cronies are still at “work.” His newest rollback takes aim at one of our most important environmental laws: the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA).

Signed into law in 1970, NEPA has been called the “Magna Carta” of environmental law, as it is the foundation for many other protections we count on to safeguard our families, our homes and our communities. NEPA sets out key guidelines for making federal environmental policy decisions, including whether major infrastructure projects should be approved.

Under Trump’s new policy, climate destruction would be excluded from even being CONSIDERED as part of NEPA’s protections. We can’t – and won’t – let this happen!

DONATE NOW

Our first chance to stop Trump’s scheme is to mobilize during the legally required 60-day public comment period to show massive opposition to this rollback. At the same time, we’ll call on Congress to step in to protect NEPA. And if all else fails, our legal team will take Trump’s Council on Environmental Quality to court over this flawed rulemaking.

But with so much focus on impeachment and the election, it’ll take a major effort to spark the grassroots pushback we need to stop Trump. That’s why your help is so important.

You are not distracted. You know that these protections are essential for our health and our future. Together, we’ll fight back in Congress, in court and at Trump’s Council on Environmental Quality itself to block this major new attack on our climate.

Donate today to help defend the climate and stop Trump’s attacks on the National Environmental Policy Act.

Onward together,
