At Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), we know first-hand how multiple compounding crises around the world can feel overwhelming. It’s easy to feel powerless in the face of so much need.
But we bear witness every day to how transformative even one donation, no matter how small, can be for our patients around the world. That’s why we’re sharing with you just how impactful your donations are in changing and saving lives around the world.
Here are five reasons MSF donations are so powerful:
MSF-USA is funded entirely by independent donors. That means that when an emergency strikes, we can leap into action and save lives—rather than cutting through bureaucratic red tape or writing government grants.
We go where the need is greatest, often where others can’t or won’t. Our teams of doctors, nurses, and logisticians are often the first on a scene when disaster strikes—sometimes arriving in a matter of minutes.
We are impartial and independent—period. We treat all patients regardless of race, religion, nationality, or political affiliation. Our financial independence means we can provide care without borders or restrictions, based solely on medical needs.
We provide high-quality medical care free of charge. We believe access to healthcare is a human right. In many instances, MSF provides medical care in hard-to-reach regions where we are the only source of high-quality medical care.
We respond in the wake of disasters and treat patients in the aftermath. We treat injured and sick patients in the immediate hours and days after an emergency. And we also stay to help people rebuild their lives, providing psychological health care and helping to meet ongoing humanitarian needs.
From the deadly earthquakes in Syria and Turkey (officially renamed Türkiye) to malnutrition sweeping through East Africa to the ongoing ground war in Ukraine—MSF is there, providing a lifeline for people in need. And it’s all thanks to our generous donor community.
