Dear John,
Spring has sprung in Maine! With it comes the arrival of migratory birds, readying their summer homes; wildflowers in bloom (bluets are my favorite); AND, of course, Earth Day!
I hope you will plan to join us for our Earth Day Beach Cleanup next Saturday, April 22, from 10 AM-12 PM at Old Orchard Beach. |
We’re delighted to be partnering with Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation on this event and excited to feature a short presentation on endangered Piping Plovers from the Maine Audubon Coastal Birds Project.
A huge thank you to Beach Cleanup sponsors: Lee Auto, Bristol Seafood, Coast of Maine, and Luke's Lobster! And to Cafe 64 in Old Orchard Beach for providing snacks for volunteers. After the clean-up, there will be a raffle for all our volunteers with fun prizes – lots of great gear from Patagonia and Holy Donut!
Together, we’ll learn more about the science behind the trash that undoubtedly makes its way to Maine’s beaches, discuss the importance of healthy marine ecosystems, and take action to help clean up one of our state’s most popular beaches. See you on the beach, |
