John,

Late Friday night, a Trump-appointed judge in Texas issued a ruling to revoke approval of Mifepristone, one of the two pills commonly used in medication abortions. Let me be clear: It has been more than 20 years since the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved it, Mifepristone is safe and effective for use, and Mifepristone has the track record to prove it. Immediately following, a judge in Washington state issued his own ruling saying the FDA should do nothing to restrict the pill’s availability in most states that allow abortion. [1]

This much will always be true: Medication abortion is safe. It is effective. It should be available to anyone who needs it without barriers.

If you are in need of abortion care, don’t give up! If you need an abortion you can have one. Abortion funds are ready to help people find care in their communities, and you can also check out Reproaction’s resources for safe and effective self-managed abortion with pills here.

If you want to voice your support of access to abortion pills, join us in uplifting and emphasizing that abortion with pills has been used for decades safely and effectively. Join us in saying everyone deserves to choose the abortion that works best for them and their family. Join us in sharing the protocol for how to safely manage a self-managed abortion with pills.

Sincerely,

Erin Matson
Executive Director, Reproaction
