Before you know it, fall will be here and school will be back in session.
Friend,
With spring break coming to an end and summer rapidly approaching, you may be thinking it’s time to take a break from thinking about education policy. But given the positive momentum across the country to bring real school choice to students and families and legislation that opens up funding to follow students, not systems, we want to celebrate the progress! — plus, given how fast time goes, fall will be here and school will be back in session before we know it.

Thanks to education savings accounts (ESAs), families with K-12 students in Arizona, Iowa, Florida, and West Virginia can now choose the best educational option for their child. With ESAs, parents can elect to redirect a portion of the money that the state allocated for their child to the options that meet their needs — regardless of their zip code or income.

ESAs can be used for approved education expenses, including private school tuition, homeschooling, learning pods, tutoring, technology, and other educational services. Thousands of students are already benefiting from the flexibility and freedom these accounts provide.

The ESA programs in Florida and Arizona serve over 100,000 students combined. These are some of the numbers. But that doesn’t tell us anything about the impact.

Prepare for the coming year and support students over systems by sharing your story. Stories like yours will help us showcase the personal impact of school choice and build support for great education freedom across the country.

ESAs empower families that wish to personalize their children’s education experience. They provide the freedom for parents to provide the educational best for their child’s specific needs. No child is alike, and our ability to make educational choices for them should reflect these unique differences.

Families need and deserve expanded education options. ESAs are a solution worth celebrating.
In Freedom,
Carrie Lukas
