Joy is still possible
Hi John,
Today is World Parkinson's Day and we are taking this
opportunity to shine a light on an often-overlooked conversation:
Parkinson's and mental health.
But, why?
Because when somebody is asked to list Parkinson's most common
symptoms, they often say things like tremors, a loss of balance, or
muscle stiffness. These are all physical symptoms but they are not the
only ones. A Parkinson's diagnosis brings with it many lesser-known
mental health symptoms such as depression, anxiety, apathy, and
feelings of isolation.
Today, Parkinson Canada is taking an important step to make sure
mental health is a bigger part of the conversation, and we'd
like you to take this step with us. Taking this conversation out of
the shadows makes it easier for people to understand that these
symptoms are real and that it's possible to access support
dealing with mental health just like you would for physical
health.
And nobody should have to do this alone. Help is here.
We need you to help us amplify this conversation so that every
Canadian impacted by Parkinson's can hear our message: With the
right support, a rich and fulfilling life is still possible!
It can be easy to let Parkinson's pull you into a dark and
isolating place. But it doesn't need to be this way. This April,
please help normalize conversations about mental health and
Parkinson's. Click one of the buttons below to share this
