John,
Today, Summer hosted a press conference with State Senator Lindsay
Williams, State Representative Sara Innamorato, Moms Clean Air Force,
Conservation Voters of PA, and Climate Power to call for an end to
corporations putting profits over the safety of people and the health of
our communities.

Here's why this is important: On Saturday, multiple Norfolk Southern train
cars derailed in the Pittsburgh area. While no injuries or hazards have
been reported, this proves that we won't have safe railways until greedy
corporations stop cutting their workforces and evading regulations.
We can't trust big rail to write their own rules. For years, rail workers
sounded the alarm while rail CEOs ensured federal deregulation, leading to
cuts in safety and maintenance costs. And instead of protecting their
constituents, Republicans proposed a budget to cut 11,000 rail safety
inspections and 30,000 miles of track inspections.
Summer will never compromise on our safety. [ [link removed] ]If you can, will you

John, Norfolk Southern would
like nothing more than for us to forget about their dangerous train
derailment in East Palestine, Ohio earlier this year. But we won't forget.
That train was headed towards Western PA — if it had derailed in our
community, the devastation would have been unimaginable.
The environmental disaster in East Palestine was a reminder to all of the
threats to our health and environment that come when leaders prioritize
profits over people. When corporations are allowed and encouraged to
poison our communities for profit, we ALL suffer.
That's why in the weeks following, Summer signed on to Reps Ro Khanna and
Chris Deluzio's DERAIL (Decreasing Emergency Railroad Accident Instances
Locally) Act as an original co-sponsor to broaden regulations defining
high-hazard flammable trains and enforce higher safety standards.
This isn't theoretical — it's about our lives and the lives of people we
love. [ [link removed] ]Will you join Summer and chip in what you can to help us achieve
our vision of economic, environmental, and racial justice?
