2023 marks a major milestone in our organization: our 20th anniversary.

It’s an unbelievable moment and we are proud of how far we’ve come.

As Save The Waves evolved from a small, grassroots campaign in Madeira to a global conservation nonprofit, so much has changed. Our work now spans across and beyond 11 countries, our staff count is bigger and our environmental impact ever larger.

But some things about us haven’t changed...

We're still led by surfers, with a motivation to preserve magical and finite waves, staff meetings that sometimes end in surf checks and a dedication to a simple pursuit: protect the places you love.

We’re thankful for the years of support - from staff members, local partners, board members, generous donors, sponsors and every passionate supporter.

So, thank you. Here’s to 20 more years of friendship, victories and perfect waves.

"For me, the biggest thing to celebrate of these 20 years is the sense of shared victory. Because we don't do anything alone and our victories are dependent upon everyone and the relationships that we build.

That's also the reason why I get up every day and do this job: it's the amazing network that we have and the people that we work with day in and day out."
