Last week, a Texas judge revoked FDA approval for mifepristone, a medication abortion pill that is used in more than half of all abortions nationwide, and has been safely used for 20 years.

At the same time, a Washington State judge issued a separate decision which ordered U.S. authorities to allow access to mifepristone in 17 Democratic-led states that sued over this issue.

Mifepristone is a safe and effective treatment that makes reproductive care more accessible, and I’m determined to protect it for all.

This is a private medical decision that should solely be made by an individual, and in consultation with their doctor. The government — and the courts — should play no role.
