*EGLE announces the Michigan Coastal Management Program?s Coastal Habitat Restoration and Ecosystem Land Conservation 2023 Grant Funding Opportunity call for pre-*proposals

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy?s (EGLE) is pleased to announce the Michigan Coastal Management Program?s (MCMP) 2023 Coastal Habitat Restoration and Ecosystem Land Conservation Grant Funding Opportunity made available through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (e.g., BIL), Public Law 117-58.? Established through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), this funding is part of a national competition seeking projects to protect and restore ecologically significant habitats along the nation?s coastlines that play a critical role in helping communities become more resilient to natural hazards and reduce the impacts of climate change. ?The MCMP is seeking pre-proposals in anticipation of selecting up to three projects to submit in this national competition.? Pre-proposals are to be submitted to the MCMP no later than June 5, 2023.

As required by NOAA, the project types eligible for funding under this opportunity include Habitat Restoration*; *Habitat Restoration Planning; Engineering, and Design; and Coastal Ecosystem Conservation through Land Acquisition. ?All projects must be within a coastal county with jurisdictions that touch the Great Lakes.? The maximum grant funding allowable per proposal by project type is $6 million with zero match required.

The MCMP will conduct an informational webinar to cover the federal competition requirements and pre-proposal expectations.? The webinar is intended for local units of government, cities, counties, villages, tribal governments, and state agencies within Michigan?s coastal counties. Information on the webinar is below:
