Anti-choice extremists’ war on reproductive freedom continues across the country: On Friday, a Trump-appointed federal judge in Texas overturned the FDA’s approval of mifepristone, a safe and widely-used abortion medication.
This decision is completely baseless, and it directly threatens the fundamental rights of Americans nationwide. We can bet that the attacks on abortion access won’t stop here. MAGA Republicans are set on taking our country back to dark times.
I’ve fought to protect reproductive freedom here in California, and I’m ready to bring that fight to Congress – we must federally enshrine abortion rights once and for all.

Thankfully, the Biden Administration has already filed an appeal in response to Friday’s ruling out of Texas. And additional choice rulings are coming down the pike in other federal circuit courts. This fight is far from over.
In the meantime, know that abortion is still legal in pro-choice states like California. I’m proud to have been a co-author of Proposition 1 last year, which enshrined abortion rights in our Constitution. I’ve been a fierce and outspoken advocate of women’s reproductive rights throughout my time in the California State Senate, including by introducing a bill that makes California the first state in the country to recognize reproductive coercion as a form of domestic violence.
I’ll keep working tirelessly to make sure abortion access and reproductive rights will continue to be protected here in this state.
And I’m going to bring that same uncompromising tenacity to Congress after I’m elected.
