✍ Sign the UPS Strike Ready Pledge! ✍

DSA Labor Banner for the strike ready pledge

Over 340,000 Teamsters at UPS work are gearing up to fight for better pay and treatment on the job when their contract expires on August 1, 2023. If the company doesn't respond to their demands, they are preparing to take part in the largest strike in recent American history.

In August, DSA and the Atlanta community will be ready to mobilize in support of UPS workers! Sign our #StrikeReady pledge and commit to join workers on the picket line, receive updates, and get campaign texts and phone calls closer to the date! Learn more about UPS solidarity here!

📝 Fill Out the 2023 Labor Survey 📝

At the 2022 Atlanta DSA Chapter Convention, members decided to prioritize our Chapter's labor work. We are building the labor movement by showing up for workers on the picket line, building relationships with rank-and-file union members, and helping our own members organize their workplaces.

But to do this, we need your help! Fill out our 2023 Labor Survey to tell us about yourself, your workplace, and the ways you'd like to help get involved in our work.

✊ Clear the Track for Worker Power ✊

DSA members from Ohio to Georgia have been on the front lines of the fight for justice against corporate giant Norfolk Southern. Join this webinar to learn about how residents of East Palestine, Forest Defenders, and railroad workers are coming together to fight the billionaire class to defend our communities, ecosystems, and infrastructure. This year, DSA members are gearing up to prevent the city of Cincinnati from selling the last municipally owned railroad in the US to Norfolk Southern, and together we can plan to expand on existing organizing to win big national demands like public ownership of the rails.

✊April Workplace Roundtable ✊

Ever thought about organizing your workplace, but don't know where to start? Join ATL DSA's labor committee for an in-person workplace roundtable at 711 Catherine St SW every third Monday of the month from 7:00-9:00 PM.

This roundtable will be an informal discussion on workplace organizing strategies, and what challenges people are facing in their own workplaces. Be prepared to introduce yourself, and share your experiences and advice with comrades on having workplace organizing conversations, strategies, and more! This event is open to members and non-members of all levels of experience!

🌹April General Meeting & Potluck🌹

Join us for Atlanta DSA's monthly General Meeting! We will hear the latest from our chapter's campaigns and committees, discuss current events in the chapter, and debate and vote on resolutions. All members are encouraged to attend, and interested non-members are welcome!

This meeting will be held in person, with an informal potluck/social starting at NOON, and business running from 1:00-3:00 PM. So bring your favorite dish, and a friend that's curious about getting involved with DSA.

Agenda (updated approximately one week before meeting): atldsa.org/agenda

Attendees can look forward to a presentation and discussion breakouts on The Tyranny of Structurelessness led by our Political Education committee.

😤 This SCOTUS case Could Make Strikes
Too Risky For Union Workers 😤

Image of a quote correctly blaming inflation on corporate greed

Supreme Court justices’ decision to hear Glacier Northwest v. International Brotherhood of Teamsters is an ominous sign for the organized labor movement.

The company is arguing that the strike caused it to suffer monetary losses. The Court will decide if the company can sue to make the union pay for it.
