After a tragic incident of gun violence in Nashville, people took to the Tennessee House of Representatives to call for common-sense gun measures that will keep their families safe. Democratic lawmakers were right beside them amplifying their voices. And now the GOP is trying to punish them for doing so.

In a blatant abuse of power, Republicans expelled two Democratic representatives from the State House for doing their job and standing up for their constituents. Sign on to condemn partisan authoritarianism → [[link removed]]

This comes just after Republicans in the Oklahoma legislature forced an anti-trans bill through and censured Rep. Mauree Turner, the first non-binary state representative, for offering support to a protestor. Meanwhile, in states like Florida, Ron DeSantis and Republicans are attacking our First Amendment rights to protest with legislation intended to silence voices in the media who disagree with them.

Dissenters have a right to speak up and protest. Officials have the right and the responsibility to advocate with and on behalf of their constituents. Silencing the opposition has been Republicans’ MO for years – we’ve seen it in their consistent acts of voter suppression. Enough is enough.
