There is a healthcare disaster that is unfolding in rural America.

Currently in our country, we are closing rural hospitals in record numbers and this is impacting too many Americans. We hear stories constantly from constituents about their commute of hundreds of miles and waiting hours to see a specialist. Not to mention the cost of that travel and the care itself.

It does not have to be this way. Our lawmakers need to prioritize our health. Under President Biden's historic infrastructure package this exact issue is covered and funds have been set aside for rural hospitals and clinics.

Republicans, who hold control of local government in many rural areas, have allowed these funds to lapse or have rejected them to save face with the party. They do not share the same beliefs that we do, and they are indifferent to the suffering of rural Americans and their inability to access healthcare. Republican greed and corruption have taken over across much of rural America.
