I am deeply concerned about the current state of affairs in our nation. We are witnessing a deliberate and coordinated assault on our democracy, state by state.

● Tennessee -- Conservatives in the state house forced out duly-elected Democratic legislators and continue to disregard the desires of Tennessee voters to address gun violence.
● Florida -- Conservative lawmakers are abusing their power by advancing a new anti-democratic election bill that would impose further restrictions on voters. 
● Mississippi -- State conservatives are instituting dangerous legislation that threatens the very foundations of our democratic values to remove power from Black Mississippians in Jackson. 
● Virginia -- The re-application of a Jim Crow-era voting law in Virginia, which disproportionately impacts black voters, constitutes an anti-democratic assault on voting rights.

These brazen actions are part of a years-long effort by conservative extremists to stifle the voice of the people and exert anti-democratic control over our nation’s ideals and infrastructures. These efforts to bend and break the foundations of our democracy for the acquisition and maintenance of partisan power are unacceptable and must be unequivocally opposed.
