John, as we process the devastation and tragedy that comes from a violent week in America, we are reminded that it does not have to be like this.

The inaction of the national Republican party and their loyalty to the NRA and the gun lobby are despicable. They are choosing dollars over lives, and culture-war tactics over children. Period. 

We need common-sense gun legislation. And we need to make sure we are paying attention to the power local seats have in enacting this legislation. 

With each passing Congress, the problem only festers and Republicans refuse to address it. There is no accountability for their policies that contribute to more criminals with guns in their hands, less access to mental healthcare, and the death of our citizens. There have been proposed weapon bans, restrictions, and even simple background checks, and Republicans endlessly choose loyalty to the gun lobby. 

We cannot wait any longer.
Our children cannot wait any longer.
Our teachers cannot wait any longer.
Parents cannot wait any longer.
Grieving loved ones cannot wait any longer.
