Hi John,
Just days ago we went back to court to immediately stop the Willow project from breaking more ground.
We're also pushing the court to decide on the legality of this disastrous project as soon as possible.
Not one new oil well should be built in Alaska's Western Arctic.
Please help us fight for the Arctic with a gift to the Saving Life on Earth Fund. Thanks to generous donors, all gifts will be matched.
The Biden administration failed to take into account the true cost of Willow.
This monstrosity is the single largest oil and gas development project on U.S. public lands.
Polar bears, who are already facing starvation, will be pushed closer to the brink. Caribou, seals, migratory birds and other species will also be hurt.
Willow would mean drilling up to 199 oil wells. It would mean hundreds of miles of ice roads, hundreds of miles of pipelines, an airstrip, and a gravel mine.
And the climate costs are staggering. Willow will pollute the climate with 260 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions over 30 years — as much as nearly 2 million cars.
Scientists are clear: To avoid irreversible climate devastation, we must end all new fossil fuel projects and immediately begin to phase out production. Approving any new fossil fuel infrastructure at this point is reprehensible.
We're doing everything we can to protect polar bears and other vulnerable species, as well as the natural landscapes and biodiversity we love so much.
The Western Arctic is the largest, most intact stretch of wilderness in the United States. It has to be protected, not turned into on oilfield.
We're not going to give up or slow down. We'll keep fighting to save this landscape and its wildlife — and we need you with us.
Please help by making a matched donation to the Saving Life on Earth Fund.
For the wild,
