John,

This morning, Marjorie Taylor Greene went on a transphobic rant on Twitter
after Pramila reintroduced our Trans Bill of Rights in Congress.

We know that trans people, and trans people of color in particular, face
some of the greatest barriers in access to opportunity, services and
resources, and face some of the worst discrimination. And now, we’re
seeing devastating attacks against trans youth by Republican state
lawmakers — not because it’s what the people want, but because they have
no plan to deliver for working families and want to drum up hate and
transphobia as a distraction instead.

John, all
Americans deserve the freedom to live their lives with dignity. The
passage of our Trans Bill of Rights would be a clear message to the trans
community that we see you, we stand with you, and we will ensure you are
protected and given the respect every person should have.

The GOP argues that by granting equality and rights to one vulnerable
group, it infringes on the rights of another. We know that is not true. In
fact, our nation has a history of righting the short-comings of the
original Bill of Rights to include protections and liberties for women and
people of color.^1

Instead, the Trans Bill of Rights would:

* Ensure that transgender and nonbinary people have equal access to
services and public accommodations by making the Civil Rights Act of
1964 and federal education laws inclusive.

* Recognize the right to bodily autonomy and ethical healthcare by
expanding access to gender-affirming medical care and other healthcare
services for trans and nonbinary people.

* Promote the safety of trans and nonbinary people by investing in
community services to prevent violence against trans and nonbinary
people and expand services for survivors.

And much, much more to defend and support those who just want to live as
their authentic selves.

This is an urgently needed set of protections, as Republicans and an
extremist Supreme Court attack and roll back the fundamental rights of
trans people across our country. And, right-wing media and GOP-led state
legislatures continue to target our trans community with hateful, bigoted,
and transphobic attacks.

$3 to our campaign fighting to protect our trans siblings
now.

In solidarity,
