John, one of our worst fears on the security of our reproductive rights has come true.

On Friday, a federal judge in Texas repealed access to mifepristone, a medication that doctors prescribe for abortions and treating miscarriages that has been used safely for decades. If it goes into effect, this indefensible ruling will put women’s lives in danger, severely escalate the maternal health crisis and force women into life-threatening situations.

Lauren and our team are deeply concerned for the protection, safety and future of women across the country.

From passing laws restricting abortion access in state legislatures, to defunding Planned Parenthood, to even setting bounties for doctors or rideshare drivers who assist with an abortion, Republicans will never stop their cruel objective to deprive women of their right to make decisions about their own bodies, lives, and futures, and strip away their dignity and progress on equality and justice.

We must respond unequivocally to each and every hit on our rights. John, we cannot take this setback lying down. The moment we become complacent to attacks on reproductive freedom, extreme anti-abortion Republicans will push even harder to rip away the rights and liberties we’ve worked so hard to achieve.

We need to show, by taking action right now, that we will not go back — that we will only grow more determined to restore and protect the right to choose for all Americans.
