Join us for another week of Bridging Worlds: Exploring Latin American and Latinx Stories Across Borders and Cultures, co-curated with Cinema Tropical. This week, we present two provocative films that shed light on America's flawed and inhumane immigration system, offering valuable insights into the challenges faced by migrants and those who seek to help them.

In Águilas, a short film by Kristy Guevara-Flanagan and Maite Zubiaurre, we follow the Águilas del Desierto, a group of searchers who volunteer monthly to recover missing migrants along the southern border in Arizona. Meanwhile, The Infiltrators, by Cristina Ibarra and Alex Rivera, tells the true story of two young immigrants who intentionally get arrested by Border Patrol and are placed in a shadowy for-profit detention center. Their mission: to stop deportations, which they believe is best achieved from inside detention.
