New York Times: Judge Invalidates F.D.A. Approval of the Abortion Pill Mifepristone

Late Friday night, an extremist Trump-appointed federal judge from Texas issued an initial ruling that, if unopposed, could strip away access to a safe and effective medication used in more than half of our nation’s abortions.

Never in the history of this nation has the judicial branch substituted its judgment for that of the experts at the FDA and ordered the revocation of their approval of a safe and effective medication more than two decades after the initial approval.

Judge Kacsmaryk’s attempt to do so is an appalling weaponization and abuse of his power to suit his extremist ideology – and nothing more.

This ruling is yet more proof that anti-abortion extremists will not stop until abortion is banned and utterly inaccessible nationwide. If we don’t stop them, they will take every anti-democratic course of action they can find to override the will of the people and make it so.
