Dear John,
Walking into a factory farm in Mexico, our investigator was hit with an overwhelming sight: thousands of hens in crowded cages. Each of these birds was considered, as one worker put it, "just a machine to produce eggs."
One hen stood out. The investigator named her Olivia.
Olivia and the other hens at this farm were treated like unfeeling objects. Anonymous and unloved, the birds spent their lives in one of the many stacked cages filling the warehouse.
These hens never got to touch grass or smell fresh air. They never experienced human kindness. Instead, our investigator saw a limp bird picked up by a leg and tossed into a wheelbarrow. Another hen was hit with a snare pole as "punishment" for falling into the manure beneath the cages. She was thrown away like trash.
This is no way to treat animals—will you join me in taking action?
