Already, 2023 has been a devastating year for gun violence. Just this morning, news broke of a mass shooting in Louisville, Kentucky, that has claimed at least four lives. We have a responsibility to take action to address this senseless carnage, which is one of the most pressing issues impacting millions of Americans today.

Democrats are with the American people on this issue. But Republicans continue standing in the way of any reforms.

Listen, here are the facts:

- 92% of Americans agree with requiring background checks for all gun sales.
- 86% agree with prohibiting people determined to be a danger to themselves or others from purchasing guns.
- 76% agree with raising the legal age to purchase certain firearms (18 to 21).
- 77% agree with enacting a 30-day waiting period for all gun sales.
- 55% believe there should be a ban on the manufacture, possession, and sale of assault rifles.

But nothing – not even these facts – have stopped Republican leaders from trying to block any and ALL gun safety legislation in the House and Senate. MAGA extremists like George Santos are so beholden to the gun lobby he even wore AR-15-shaped pins on the House floor. It's unacceptable.
