John,
The true mark of spring is the northern return of the monarch butterfly. But this year, we can expect to see a lot fewer of them thanks to climate change.
According to a recent report from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Mexico, the population of monarchs wintering in Mexico’s hillsides dropped a staggering 22 percent in just one year.
John,
After Speaker McCarthy pushed his pro-polluter H.R. 1 through the House this month, SEEC Members Sean Casten and Mike Levin got to work — and have provided a counterattack.
It’s a new bill called the “Clean Electricity Transmission Acceleration Act of 2023,” which brings together the best of old proposals with new ideas to help promote and accelerate clean energy projects.
And we can do that through a multi-system approach to reform our permitting practices. For too long, the approval process to get clean energy projects off the ground has been bogged down by rules that were written to advantage fossil fuels over clean energy. This is exacerbated by the fact that many of these energy regulators are understaffed and dealing with a massive influx of project proposals to shift through.
With Casten and Levin’s bill, that bottleneck for the clean energy revolution would be over. It would create new offices to streamline the approval process and give the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission new authorities to prioritize emission reduction projects.
While Speaker McCarthy and House Republicans are all “drill baby drill,” our SEEC Members are taking the initiative to pave the way for a new clean energy era.
We’re ready for clean energy and SEEC Reps. Casten and Levin are working to make its deployment possible. Chip in now so that they can continue creating problem-solving policies to usher in a sustainable future.
