Collaborative for Youth in Care (CLYC) Event

Join us to learn more about CLYC, a project in support of Houston area foster youth. This event will offer a critical opportunity to provide feedback and learn how to get involved with our efforts to prevent unintended pregnancy and provide parenting support to youth in conservatorship. Interview Spotlight

At the Texas Campaign, we strive to include youth voice into every aspect of our work. As part of this effort, we've begun interviewing young adults with lived experience with regards to teen pregnancy or sex education. The impact of their first-hand experience will help inform our future work across the State. 

This month, we interviewed Angel Jackson from Harris County Youth Collective. After aging out of care at 18 she realized that she wanted to do more than just help other foster youth. Her mission is to inform the community on issues concerning dual status youth, and provide children with resources that they are not aware of. Her belief is that change and awareness is key to helping youth transition to being productive adults in society.

RFP - Messaging Framework

The Texas Campaign is seeking a knowledgeable and innovative contractor to create a messaging framework that is both empowering to Texas adolescents, including teen parents, and resonates with policymakers and funders. Download the RFP here. Deadline for submissions is Feb. 14, 2020.

2020 is primed to be an action-packed year! From the annual Symposium to the School Board of Education's review of the sex education standards to the many community projects, there are a variety of ways to get invloved. Every new donor enables us to expand our reach so that all Texas youth can reach their full potential.Thank you again for your generosity.
Federal Funding for Women's Health Programming

The Trump administration announced last week that Texas will once again receive federal funding for women's health programming. The state has been operating the Healthy Texas Women program using state funds since 2016, after losing federal funding due to excluding abortion affiliates from a prior version of the program.
Texas Youth-Friendly Initiative Featured Testimonial

We are so happy to share this month’s featured testimonial from Consuelo (Chelo) Elliott, RN, WHNP-BC and Director of Nurses at the Bell County Public Health District, who speaks with us about how their Temple site looks to increase adolescent attendance and involvement through the Texas Youth-Friendly Initiative.  She describes how every staff person impacts teen care and what the organization has done to involve all staff to ensure quality care.
