[The Overnight]([link removed])

Each year, thousands of people from all over the country come together for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's flagship fundraising event, the [Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk]([link removed]). This year, the event will take place in Washington, D.C., on June 3 at the Lincoln Memorial.

As the sun sets, Overnight Walk participants will begin their 16+ mile journey together, walking from dusk till dawn with the support of a community that understands. The Overnight is a transformative event that gives Walkers the power to raise awareness and funds, and build lifelong connections with others whose lives have been touched by suicide.

Mary Jeanne Miller, a volunteer with AFSP's Oregon chapter, is one of many whose lives have been changed by The Overnight. She initially connected with AFSP following the loss of her son, and since her first Overnight Walk in 2015, she and her stepdaughter Amy look forward to it every year:

"As we finished the Walk, we arrived at lighted luminaria bags, which Walkers decorate with photos and expressions of the person they've lost. This is one of the highlights for me: a symbol of our loved ones lighting the way for us." ([Read more of Mary Jeanne Miller's story in our 2022 Annual Report]([link removed]).)

You can join Mary Jeanne and thousands of others by registering for The Overnight today. We encourage you to join us for this powerful event, where alongside so many others, you can walk through the darkness and into the light.
