Team, I’m concerned.
Anti-democratic election bills are on the rise all across the nation. Extreme lawmakers are abusing their power and attacking voters every chance they get to gear up for the 2024 election. The most recent attack is in one of our key battleground states, and my home state, Florida.
"Midway through the 2023 legislative session, Republican lawmakers Tuesday began advancing a sweeping elections package that would impose further restrictions on voter registration groups, create a new crime for harassing elections workers and relax campaign finance reporting rules." -- Fox35 Orlando
Chip in now to help All On The Line mobilize our grassroots movement in states like Florida and across the country to push back against extreme lawmakers' attacks on voters' access to the ballot box. >> [link removed]
Earlier this week, conservative Florida lawmakers rushed to approve, and publicly release, Senate Bill 7050 within 24 hours. This 98-page bill threatens the very foundation of our democracy: voters.
Here's what you need to know about this bill → S.B. 7050:
1️⃣ Third-party voter registration -- Organizations would have to re-register for each general election and drop off voter registration forms within 10 days versus the 14 days they have now. This will affect future young Black and Latinx registered voters who need assistance.
2️⃣ Reduced access for new voters -- First-time voters without a valid FL driver's license, a FL ID card, or a social security number would be required to vote in person, with very few exceptions.
3️⃣ Mail-in ballots -- The deadline to send back a ballot, or mail-in ballot request, would be earlier.
4️⃣ List maintenance -- The bill would also expand voter list maintenance activities, which could lead to the purging of eligible voters from the rolls.
For years, extreme lawmakers in gerrymandered states like Florida have been attacking our voting rights and elections. We must ensure that every voter today, and future generations, are heard and have access to fair representation. That's why your support of our work day after day, month after month, matters. Let's take action together -- chip in to All On The Line today. >> [link removed]
