Hi, John -- this is Congressman Dan Goldman of New York.

I’m proud to be one of the first members of Congress to endorse Ruben Gallego for the U.S. Senate in Arizona, a seat currently held by Kyrsten Sinema. More than ever, we need leaders like Ruben who stand firm in the face of extremist Republicans seeking to tear down our legal and democratic institutions.

I was elected to Congress in 2022, but this isn’t my first time working in the Capitol. I was the lead counsel in the first impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump. Like me, Ruben is a fierce defender of democracy who believes that no one -- not even a former president -- is above the law.

Last week, we heard Trump and his MAGA accomplices use dangerous rhetoric about Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg and the judge presiding over Trump’s criminal case. There is only one candidate in the Arizona Senate race who will fight for our democracy -- and that is Ruben Gallego.

On January 6, Ruben was ready to defend Arizona voters from attempts to subvert the will of the voters on the House floor. Little did he know that he would be called upon to use his Marine training to defend the Capitol and ensure that his colleagues were safe.

Ruben’s dedication to lifting up Americans who yearn for the America Dream stands in stark contrast to his likely opponents. I’m excited to see him continue this important work in the Senate.
