Hi John,
Welcome to your fifth and final email in your introduction to The Big One. Today we’re talking about impact. What’s the best way to make sure you have an impact this April? Show up and be heard. Here’s a reminder of why a mass movement is needed, from George Monbiot.
But that’s not the only way. If you want to do more to make sure The Big One turns the tide of climate inaction, there are some more things you can do.
1. Engage your friends and communities
By far the greatest impact we can have individually is to engage those we know in discussions about the climate crisis and the potential for positive action. Lots of people still don’t know The Big One is happening, or feel disengaged, disheartened and hopeless.
The most effective way to make this HUGE is to personally invite your friends and family. The most powerful messages will come from you in your own words, but if you need some prompts here are some quick links to share on
WhatsApp,
Facebook or
Twitter.
2. Take on a volunteer role
All welcome, all needed! We’ll make sure you get the training and info you need to feel confident in your role. Join the
support crew at The Big One - 100s of stewards required, as well as other roles!
3. Special bonus one for Londoners: offer space in your home or garden
Our existing network of places to stay is booking up fast and we need more accommodation. This could be indoor or outdoor space. Could you help?
Will you be there?
Together we can work to end the fossil fuel era and tackle the climate and ecological emergency. So far, over 25,000 people have committed to attend over 21st-24th April to demand a better future - and now we also have the combined power of over 100 other organisations joining us!
Join us in choosing our own future.
Love and gratitude,
Extinction Rebellion UK
